I’ve been giving the idea of transferring to an online university some serious thought lately, but I’m not sure if it’s the right move. Is a degree from an online school really acceptable these days?
No. If your qualification for a job is an online degree, your application goes directly into the trash.
These places are deigned to separate gullible people from their money.
You are much better off with classes at the closest state university and also community college.
Online universities are still credible, and you may be able to find online programs within traditional and well known universities. Education has opened many doors of opportunity to individuals with the desire to further their education, but may not have the time to attend class or have the financial backing. Online colleges or online programs enable students with busy schedules, or lack of funds, to have the same opportunity as the other students to further their education. Online or on campus, future employers are looking to see verification of completion and your experience. A lot of MBA or prestigious courses are being moved to online programs, so the myth that online programs are not as credible is truly false. Another resource you can look at are some of the various learning management systems. These LMSs contain extensive catalogs of courses created by experts within that area of study and provide diplomas or certificates of completion to further verify your completion of the course. Employers will generally prefer on-campus degrees over online degrees. Holders of online degrees know this. They are forever fearful of being outed as online students. They’re always anxious to know if their online degree transcript or sheepskin will betray them with the dreaded word “online”.
It is true that some courses can be delivered effectively on-line. However, education remains more than a series of online classes passed without classroom interaction. Educated persons need several years of attendance in what’s commonly called by education theorists a “community of learners”. On-campus attendance will remain the gold standard of superior education. Harvard Yard will not be replaced by Harvard Extension School.
There are various online colleges but all are not acceptable because some are fraud colleges and give away fake degrees which are of no use and such degrees are thrown into trash by employers. Only degree through accredited colleges is considered good by the employers and such degree increases your chances of getting hired. So choose only accredited schools to pursue online degree and you can get the list here http://www.thedegreeexperts.com/online-college.aspx
My daughter is a registered nurse and is taking online classes to be a nurse practitioner. She has to do some offline classes later but I would go for it.
