It depends on what online college you go to. Yes you can absolutely be successful with an on line degree. In fact most of the big state schools and other big schools are forming their own online courses. Be careful there are a lot of online programs that are not recognized as official universities. I would look into Phoenix and Devry first. They are the most well know on line schools in the nation. A lot of these universities are willing to talk with you and see if their school fits your needs. Many of there sites have a form where you can submit your contact information and they will contact you in order to get a feel of your situation. You should talk to one of their representatives and see what they have to offer. Here is a direct link to classesandcareers.com page that provides you with information on the different online colleges out there http://tiny.cc/7NYNJ

As long as the college (online or campus based) is regionally accredited, any degree you earn should be accepted by any potential employers or other academic institutions.
My best recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.). Too often people enroll in the first school they find rather than taking the time to find the best school for them. Taking that time now could save you a lot of time, money and frustration if you choose the wrong school.
This site has some good info on regionally accredited online degrees and some colleges that offer them to help expand your search:

I think you can enter your info on there for any colleges you are interested in and they will send you more info for free. Good Luck!
