I got a 1713 on the SAT in 7th grade so I’m feeling lucky… I want to take the GED in 8th grade just to say I did it plus I enjoyed taking the SAT. I also want to take some online college courses, so that is another reason I want to take the GED… but I still want to go to High School with my friends. Can I take the GED and stay in school? Or am I not allowed to? Thanks!
No, you can’t take the GED now. States have age requirements for that – somewhere between 16 and 19 depending on the state, and you must officially drop out of high school 3 months before taking it even if you meet the age requirements. If you take the GED, that’s it – no high school. And chances are you’re not ready for college if no one has suggested you don’t skip high school. The SAT is easy – haven’t taken high school math or science or English yet, and you need that.
