The Islamic Online University (IOU) is the brainchild of Dr. Bilal Philips. He envisioned an institution that would offer online intensive, undergraduate, and graduate courses in Islamic Studies completely tuition-free.

A series of free courses arranged into an organized program of study wherein students who follow the recommended sequence will embark on a study program guided by Dr. Bilal Philips himself. The program provides an introduction to the basic Islamic sciences and insight into the manhaj or way of the Prophet (pbuh) as embodied in the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah in accordance with the understanding of the first generation. Some of the courses will be on topics of immediate and practical relevance to the students. The free course of study will also introduce students who wish to pursue an accredited BA or MA in Islamic Studies to the methodology of the BAIS program.

Certificates will be given for each of the free courses and a diploma for those who complete all of the free courses.

The IOU is now launching the world’s first tuition-free, online Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies. This path-breaking initiative plans to utilize the worldwide presence of the Internet and advanced open source online learning technology to bring low-cost, university level Islamic education within reach of anyone on the planet who has access to a computer and the Internet .

I am going to enroll there after my A.S. Early Childhood Education. It is tution free for the BAIS. They are hoping Insha Allah to get up a MAIS and a Ph. D online before the first set of people graduate. They are NOT accredited but are working on that. There is a lot of Arabic classes. Lot of Qur’an classes, some Ahadeeth, dawa training course, etc. It is founded by Dr. Bilal Phillips who seems to have written most of the text material, does all the lectures from what I can see. Everything is taught in English, except for the advanced Arabic courses which are in Arabic. It is a three year program, you only pay a semester enrollment fee each semester and a exam semester fee (costs depends on your country).
