Those type of schools have only one main goal…admit as many students possible which equals to $$$$!! The “for profit” schools are not closely regulated by the government. These admissions reps will say anything to get you admitted. I would check your local community college or most hospitals have health school programs (MUCH cheaper and those are accredited appropriately). HR recruiters tend to be a little skeptical of graduate of “for profit” schools than a real college.

Everest states that they are “accredited” but they will not state with who. That makes me question their integrity. A real school proudly states their credentials.

Medical Billing and Coders that I know make approximately $10/hr (I live in Virginia). The person that I personally know who works as a coder received her education at a local community college. She LOVES her job. Her hours are flexible and she loves the work environment. But it all depends on who you work with and your location.

Do a bit more research on the schools. Don’t go to a “for profit” school which will cost you $25,000K or up and once you graduate, you are stuck with a huge student loan bill. That is not a good way to start off a career.
