I took a hybrid, on-line, face to face, communications course. The fact that it was mixed didn’t help, becuse people never used the online tools.
However, i do know people who are currently taking online courses in various disciplines. They seem to be very pleased with the dynamics, and with the fact that they can pursue higher education on their own schedule, without having to quit their jobs or travel.
Personally, I prefer face to face, because I don’t like the fact that interaction in online courses is usually asynchronic. I like the immediate feedback, and I don’t have the discipline required for online learning.
Whatever you choose to do, as long as it is from an accredited university, you should be fine. I don’t know how bio and chem adapt to online formats. That is something you should research about too.

Half of my MBA was taken through ONLINE courses. My university was GREAT about them and the forum they had set up really worked out well. However, they are ALOT more difficult (in my opinion) than just taking a “live” course. You are basically left to do all the work on your own and their tend to be alot more assignments than you would have if you took the “live” course. Also, if the course material is complicated and not easily understood…you will get confused quickly online. Alot of people have an opinion that they would be easier online, but this is completely false. If you are good at keeping on track in your studies, are very self-disciplined and have a knack for Biology and Chemistry…then you should be just fine.

My tip would be to NOT get behind, use the boards to communicate anything you need help with…questions, etc. If you don’t feel you are doing well and need to take the course at school…get out FAST and drop the class…don’t think it will get easier. It just won’t.
