The majority of online schools are scams (diploma mills) so once you’ve sorted those out you’re only left with a few real online schools and a few online schools run by normal colleges. Those would be your best bet.

How about an AACSB accredited business school with an online program? Fact is “most” online programs aren’t scams – but “some” are.

The best online programs are at the best schools. Take a look at this list – all online and I’m not seeing a single “scam” in the whole list. In fact, some are very well respected “big schools with a good reputation” http://www.geteducated.com/online-college-ratings-and-rankings/best-buy-lists/best-buy-online-bachelor-business-management

Add: I’m inclined to believe that the AACSB wouldn’t accredit a business school that it considers “inferior” and that most employers could really care less where or how you learned to analyze a balance sheet, as long as you learned it and can prove it. But, that’s just my opinion – for what it’s worth. Employers don’t run the schools – they only care about results.

As for the student interactions in a classroom – I just don’t need that kind of distraction while I’m trying to learn something. I’m sorry, but I’ve not experienced too many favorable student:student educational interactions in those 100-student lecture halls. Certainly no student:professor interaction. The modern undergrad classroom environment is nothing more than a process for information distribution; nothing more, nothing less. Reading a book accomplishes the same process and very often with better outcomes.

All legitimate colleges are accredited. The people who accredit them are:

Western Association of Schools and Colleges

Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools

New England Association of Schools and Colleges

North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement

Northwest Association of Accredited Schools

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools

If the school you are looking at is not accredited by one of these organizations (depending where the school is located) your class credits will not transfer anywhere and your degree will not be recognized by anyone including employers. If the university is accredited by one of these organizations, it is legitimate.

There are a large number of reputable AACSB-accredited schools these days offering distance business degrees, but the fact is this is an inferior way to get an education — especially an undergraduate education where campus residence and face to face contact with professors are key to getting a well-rounded education. In Business courses, case study is not well taught by online classes. You need to be within dagger distance of your colleagues.

When you do graduate with an online degree in Business, you will forever be fearful of being found out and humiliated. This is why graduates with online degrees go out of their way to hide that they got their degrees online. Many employers silently (you won’t hear the reason) reject job applications listing online degrees.

Don’t choose an “online university”. Choose a regular university that has an online program option. Penn State has a well-known one. And Charleston Southern is another good option.
