Public university means that it is supported directly by the state.

You should check out universities near you to see if they offer online education. Many private and some public schools do offer online courses, and there may be a school near you that you can get to for a few hours per week. The BA is definately worth finding the time in your life for.

Hello there are a few:

Walden University

Baker College Online

National University

There are many others, you have to research. I’m also not sure if they’re offering Database Administration, so I guess this is only half an answer…but it’s a start!

Good luck! :-)

I like the search tool at Petersons.com http://www.petersons.com/distancelearning/code/search.asp

It will include the “as seen on TV” schools but will also include many others you may not have considered.

Look for a reputable school that is not only regionally accredited but also ABET accredited.

You’ll have to search through the many Comp. Sci. and IT programs to find a specific concentration in database admin.

Florida State Univ. does an online BS in Comp Sci for example. http://learningforlife.fsu.edu/online/prospective/undergradprograms/CIS.cfm

UMass Lowell does an online BS in Inf. Technology http://continuinged.uml.edu/online/BSonline.htm

If you look around, there are plenty of good online programs out there.
