Probably about 2 years. Most students take 15 credits (or hours) a semester, so it would take you 4 semesters, or 2 years. But I doubt you’ll be able to do it all online. Pharmacy Tech is a hands-on degree, so you’ll need practicum training, which you’ll have to do in person more than likely.

If you’re asking about the typical college semester hour system:

1 semester hour of credit means you completed 1 hour of class per week for a semester. About 15 hours of actual class.

Most college classes are 3 hours of credit – or, they meet 3 hours per week. In an online course the assumption is that you’ll do about the same amount of time but reality is often that the online course takes more hours of actual study time.

How long it takes to complete 60 hours depends entirely on how many courses/hours you take per week.

60 hours is the typical length of an associates degree. Generally speaking, it takes about 2 years of “full time” study.

“Full time” in college means 12 semester hours of credit per semester, Fall and Spring. Most students that want to finish “on time” take 15 hours per semester. The typical course is worth 3 hours so 12 hours is 4 courses and 15 hours is 5 courses. But, some courses (band, choir, PE) are only 1 hour and some (sciences and higher math) are 4 or 5.

It’s possible to complete a program faster than typical by taking more hours per semester and by not taking a break in the summer. Some colleges that operate year-round on an accelerated schedule can work in 5 semesters per year as Fall I, Fall II, Spring I, Spring II, and Summer.
