I am currently enrolled in a bachelor degree program with University of Maryland University College (UMUC – Online courses). I want to do my CPA which requires atleast an associate degree. I want to do my CPA first and then complete my bachelor degree as i need to work. I have currently 68 semester credits. UMUC does not offer an associate degree. What would be the quickest way for me to get an associate degree. Thanks in advance for answering my question!
I want to add that i want to get the associate degree through online courses. Thanks.
Thanks. I am planning to do my CPA from Delaware Board and they do accept an associate degree to appear in CPA exam. I need help with two things:
- I am not sure which online college should i select. What should i look into before i register for associate degree?
- I already have the 68 credit hours. Since my objective is to get associate degree so the college best for me would be the one which has the least residency requirements for associate degree.
I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

Check here for the CPA Licensure requirements for Maryland. I believe that you need a bachelor’s degree to sit for the exam (and 150 units to get licensed).

I would consider taking online community college classes in accounting to meet all of your educational requirements – and perhaps finish your bachelor’s degree before becoming a CPA.
Hope this helps!!
