Yes, you can get a bachelor’s degree and be a RN with a BSN. Or you can be a RN with an associate’s degree, which is an ASN. The best way to get a nurse’s degree is to go to a 2 or 4 yr college and get practical experience nursing. If you take classes online, you will graduate knowing NOTHING about actual hands on common sense nursing.
You will get the most experience by being a nurse’s aide during your college experience. That way you will have some experience under your belt.

The best RNs I know became LPNs before RN. That way you get the most nursing experience during clinicals.

Hope this helps.

You can do what the counselor said but they’re leaving out that little thing called NURSING SCHOOL. An associates in nursing from an RN program allows you to sit to be an RN just as a BSN does. To be a BSN does NOT make you an RN, however. You have to pass the licensure exam.
There are waiting lists throughout the country to get into RN school. What use an associates in health care admin is is the question–I see none.

You do not have to be an RN to get a BSN–it happens that way if you did an associates or diploma program and then go after the bachelors in nursing, but the BSN is worthless without licensure.
