i have a good relationship with my company and im in japan for another 3 years but i would like to stay longer. i dont have an english teaching degree but i am working at an english teaching company. i came here to japan married to my wife but things dont look good between us. im a work work work guy and this country facinates me. i love children and saying good bye to them would kill me (even though its another 3 years…haha)
any way to get another visa? iv already used my working holiday visa. should i do an online teaching course? or take a japanese tests for residency? i do speak the languge very well.
any suggestions will be fine. thank you
thanks people, also just one more thing, can my company still sponser me even if i dont have a qualification in teaching english. reason i got this job was because im married. also my company is not such a big company so will that affect my chance for sponsering? thanks again

As long as the company you’re working for now can sponsor you, you can switch your Spouse Visa over to a Working Visa. You’ll just have to renew it every year, instead of every three years.
After you’ve been living in Japan continuously for 5 years you can apply for Permanent Residency, though I think it would go a little easier if you were still married. But hey, I know these things happen. A divorce is what brought me to Japan to begin with.
