Keep looking for online school.
Some colleges look down on GED.
I know they are supposed to be equal but I would continue with my high school education.

If you are a hard worker and good student then look for a online school? Some online high schools have payment programs where you agree to the terms and pay monthly?

I pay $35 dollars a month with Penn Foster. But, I would be careful some colleges may not accept transfer credits.
I called all my future colleges and asked if they accepted Penn Foster high school diploma. They said yes as long as I have my transcripts act and sat scores.

I plan on going to a community college for a year to add more electives as in arts and music. Then, I plan to apply to a few universities and enter the premed program.

Check with all future school you may attend.
A diploma earned online may not be considered equal to some employers or colleges.
The online program should be accredited .

Penn Foster may not be good for you. I am going to finish in about a few months. I started in February 2009. You can complete the program in months or up to three years.

I talked to my counselor.
The school offered me some classes online. IT was not what I wanted.
At first my counselor told me if I really wanted to graduate I would just go to public school.

Remember it is up to you.
If you want to learn through distance learning go ahead.

Colleges offer it and nothing is wrong with distance learning.

Explain to her how the environment isn't working.

My counselor was not helpful so I researched the laws, contacted the online school, colleges, and some employers to make sure they would accept my Penn Foster Diploma.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE ONLINE SCHOOL IS ACCREDITED.

Please do the research.

Maybe you could get a job and help pay the tuition?

Penn Foster is $1400 but I paid one time down payment of $19 dollars.
And a one time payment of $15 dollars for a a transcript evaluation( to see if I could transfer my credits and finish sooner)
and $35 dollars a month until I pay it off.

$1400 is for the whole program including books and help. Most of the work is studying then taking exams, multiple choice and essays.

I have about 39 payments to go but $35 a month is not bad.
You do not get your diploma until you pay off the price and complete the courses.

Also, you need to take the SAT and ACT. which is not offered with Penn Foster but you can sign up yourself in your junior year and/or senior to take the tests.

GED are not equilavent to high school diplomas to some colleges.

H.s. Diplomas look better along with high ACT and SAT scores.

You seem like a great student. Good luck and I hope you figure everything out.
Do your research!
And ask for help contact college counselors and admissions to learn about requirements and what qualification you need.
Keep working you will be fine.

YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT IS ACCREDITED!

You will not get accepted to any university if you diploma is not earned at an accredited school.

WILL NOT GET IN!

you will have to go back and get your GED which cost money and also won't be as good as a high school diploma.

BE careful of diploma mills.
Talk to your school counselor to make sure it is accredited.

There are state education websites which state which online high schools are accredited.

I know some things are easier but they are not equal to working hard. You have to work hard to succeed. Do not cheat or try to work around things you will only mess up yourself.

I'm not aware of anything that is totally free. If you are self-motivated, you could try collegeplus.org and get your associates' degree by the time you graduate. Or, you could put together your own curriculum and graduate with a homeschool diploma (not accredited, but still accepted pretty much anywhere). The second option would be cheaper, but the first one would be more accredited (your degree would be from Thomas Edison State College).
