Without telling us what kind of music degree there is no way to answer the question.

IMO, most music degrees would not be feasable over the internet.

Are you talking music performance? Most “performance” type degrees aren’t offered online. Performance-based degrees just don’t fit with distance learning, and faculty strongly feel this type of program must be taught in person. If you find any online or distance music performance school (I did, but it’s obviously sh*t) be quite cautious and carefully check their reputation before you enroll.

There are a few, reputable schools which teach music or music education online. Indiana University is one, and their music program is quite reputable. Unfortunately, they don’t offer an online undergrad degree in music. However, they do offer an undergrad degree in general studies, and since they have a strong music school and offer many music courses online, I wonder if you’d be interested in majoring in general studies, but focusing as much as possible on music? So I’ve provided a link, below.

Judson College offers an undergrad music major online, but I know nothing about that school in terms of its rep. They seem to be a genuine, accredited university, though.

University of New England offers a degree in ethnomusicology, but their rep isn’t all that strong. They’re a real, genuine school, though. Just not competitive.

Must your education take place online? Is there no way for you to get to your local community college or state school? If not, then yes, you may be a bit stuck. But if you can attend a school in person, then that’s really your best bet in terms of studying music.

Berklee School of Music in Boston has just started offering music classes online. That is a really prestigious school so I might check that out if I were you.
