Well done. Sure, there is a place for philosophy in the world and I hope that we dont forget where this title “Philosophy” comes from…love of wisdom…. therefore we should expect from those guys to share more then just only information and knowledge – but skillfully linked it with experience and then spread the wisdom … truths – for the benefit of all, thanks and Good luck

Yeah it seems scripted, also a lot of it is just pretentious backpatting.

This radio show style seems awkward – why do thay do that? It really gets boring because useful information is so loosely packed. And that fast-talking guy was weird – how is anyone supposed to really understand what he’s saying?

That’s rather interesting. The main issue is whether any institutions/university is capable of maintaining such “proper funding and care”. But it should be something worth considering (maybe something like Berkeley?)

Well, I (personally) don’t mind the fact that Stanford accepts a limited number of students. However, I would like to see Stanford post more of their lectures online such as MIT OCW. I believe Stanford to have some courses online, but not sufficient. (I like to self-study ^.^)

With existing staff and facilities it would obviously dilute the various courses.
However if a programme of building educational facilities was carried out with proper funding and care, then there is no reason why such centres of excellence may not multiply and become the backbone of a sane society, as is the case in other countries in Europe, which are not as awfully educated as the USA.
islands of excellence in a sea of ignorance is a recipe for disaster, failure and stagnation.

it would, in theory, decrease the excellence of the academic institute because the teaching would be less individualized. That and the dorms would be crowded.

i hate how it takes them 10 minutes to get into the actual topic
… but i really do like the topic
i do believe on the guy on the right though(haha sorry, i forgot his name), universities are a safe haven for literature, history, thoughts, etc.

if everyone who applied to stanford got in, the campus would have to expand like 10 times over.

Interesting topic, especially when about 20 of my friends just got rejected/deferred from Stanford.
