Is Kaplan University seen in the Professional world as an Accredited college even though it is an Online U?

I was told that some online universities are not taken seriously or seen as a “real” form of higher education. However, I have heard nothing but great things with Kaplan University. It is plainly obvious that University of Phoenix is basically a scam. Most employers do not view online university degrees as legitimate education. Other than receiving a degree from a real university through extension courses, is there a legitimate online university out there?
