I was just accepted to UMDCP, but for Spring 2012. Advice that I would give to you is to raise your GPA to at least a 3.8, get a study book for the SAT/ACT, take as many Honors courses and AP/IB courses as you can without hurting your GPA, and be involved in many extracurricular activities. Here is the Freshman Profile for the Fall of 2011 http://www.uga.umd.edu/admissions/counselor/freshmanprofile.asp

You are correct that their standards have gone up and will go up. Many people apply and you need to standout from the other applicants.

My GPA was about 3.75 and my SAT was 1820. I will have taken 7 AP courses when I graduate and at least 15 Honors courses. I was involved in a couple extracurricular activities.
