To sit for the licensing exams in Virginia, you must be a graduate of an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited veterinary technology program. There are two varieties–on-site and distance education. You can find a list of both here:
http://www.avma.org/education/cvea/vettech_programs/virginia.asp

For more information on getting licensed in VA, go to these links:

I would also recommend that you check out the state veterinary technician association: http://www.valvt.net/

Interview questions are going to range, but common ones would concern your experience with handling animals, any previous experience in the veterinary medical field, education or plans for education and hours that you will be available to work.
