I’ll skip the minute details so not to bore you….(repost now that there are more people). I’m in my early twenties. I started working at age 14, started a business at 16 and have over 5 years of management experience.
Long story VERY short, I’ve been considering two possible degree options (they are online programs and the place isn’t prestigious, it’s only route I have that does not require 4 years of full time study):
1) One will take only 1 year of time, but its only a general degree
2) The other requires 2.5 years of full time effort, but it’s a commerce degree.
I’m not a typical “fresh graduate” with no work experience, as I mentioned above. In your opinion, is a commerce degree (I’ve looked, little I don’t know) be worth an extra 1.5 years ? The place isn’t prestigious, but I can’t find another college that doesn’t require 4 years of study in my case. Not to sound arrogant, but I’ve made more money than alot of professors. What would you suggest? Many thanks!

I am wondering why it is that you want to get a degree. If your business is fine, and you don’t intend on having to get another job which would require a degree, then I don’t see the point in getting a degree, especially one that is worth relatively little. By your description, neither of the degree programs that you are looking into seem to result in you getting a bachelors degree (a lesser degree doesn’t get anyone very far, so why not make the four year commitment?). I think it would help you get more answers if you repost with information regarding why you need or want the degree, and what kind of degree (associates perhaps? I have no idea what a “general degree” is, unless it is just a certification of some kind) you are actually pursuing. Any advice I could give is meaningless without the context you can provide by answering the above questions.
