Some ideas:

* Public lectures at local college(s). If you want to get more out of it, read up a little bit on the topic in advance and ask the speaker a question.

* Ditto at libraries, museums, bookstores and adult education non-profits. Sign up for their e-newsletters to keep up with events.

* Join (or start) a writing workshop, where you write poetry, fiction, etc. and meet regularly to share, discuss and critique one another’s work.

* Join (or start) a conversation group in a foreign language you’ve studied and would like to keep up.

* Join (or start) a book club tailored to your interests. It doesn’t have to be a gossip session with the latest pulp fiction as its pretense; you may be able to find a group as interested as you are in a period or genre of literature or history or whatever floats your boat.
