There are plenty of accredited ones. The best are ones that are both regionally accredited and not-for-profit. These are usually online programs from traditional universities or community colleges. All the “brand name” online schools (University of Phoenix, DeVry, Kaplan) are for-profit. Degrees from for-profit schools are often looked at unfavorably by employers, credits may not transfer to other colleges, and they’re often more expensive than traditional colleges.

The online programs of your community college or state university are almost always better than those of expensive private universities.
