I’ve been actively looking for a job since the latter part of March and I’m not having much luck. I’ve had only one interview in person and the others were over the phone. The only thing that I can think of that may be hurting me is the fact that I was fired from my last job for poor work performance; however, there were other circumstances surrounding that are understandable. However, I’m not getting many calls even about the jobs I’ve applied for. Another thing is that everyone wants you to either apply online or fax your resume/application. What happened to the days of being able to apply in person and making contact? I’m really getting desperate now, because I have two children to support and bills. I just received my last unemployment check this week. My overall experience is good and I at least have my associate’s degree. I’ve been mainly looking for clerical, accounts receivable and customer service type positions. However, right now I’m not getting anywhere.
Here are my top qualifcations:
Associate’s Degree; 7 yrs of clerical experience; Bilingual (Spanish); Advanced knowledge of MS Office, all Windows versions, Web design and development…just to name a few.
I’m registered with all the major job posting sites and the one for my state. I had a paid account with Monster, but I didn’t see where it was helping me really so I dropped the paid service. Today I was considering having one of those paid job services that automatically submit your resume to postings in your area of interests, but I’m thinking “stop you don’t have a job how can you even afford to pay for this”! Any ideas, advice and suggestions greatly appreciated! I’ve got two mouths to feed and bills PLEASE HELP!!!

Most of those sites are ripoffs. The thing to remember is that the internet is no excuse to work less harder. All it has really done is increase the competition.
